Construction Underway for New Hospital in Yonni Town
On October 20, 2024, Yonni Town marked a major milestone with the groundbreaking of a new, modern hospital. This project is funded by local benefactor Madam Holkey Dembe Nee Turay, with her sister, Madam Ranita Adama Koroma, coordinating efforts to bring improved healthcare to their hometown. Both sisters have a history of supporting Yonni Town through educational, agricultural, and empowerment initiatives.
During the event, Madam Ranita Koroma emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare, noting that many residents currently travel to other towns for medical services. "This hospital will provide essential care close to home," she said. "We are committed to supporting our community, and I encourage everyone here to take ownership and ensure the project’s success."
The Town Chief, Madam Marry Kaikai, expressed deep gratitude to the sisters, urging others from the community to contribute to Yonni’s growth.
Project supervisor Mr. Sullaman Sheriff shared details about the hospital, which will include wards for men, women, and children, a labor room, consultation spaces, a pharmacy, staff quarters, and other essential facilities. The project, expected to complete in five months, is anticipated to greatly enhance healthcare access in the area, ensuring that essential services are readily available to Yonni Town residents.
With this hospital, the sisters aim to elevate the quality of life for the community, making healthcare more accessible and impactful.
