Four Accused, Including 13-Year-Old Girl, Face Court Over Alleged $10,000 Theft in Freetown

A 13-year-old girl, Juliana Kamara, along with two other women, Mabinty Kamara and Ramatu Kamara, appeared in court on December 18, 2024, facing charges of conspiracy and larceny. The three are accused of stealing over $10,000 from pensioner Willimina Thompson in Freetown.

The alleged theft occurred between August and October 2024 at Congo Cross, Freetown, where the accused reportedly conspired to steal a total of $10,600 (approximately 240,017 New Leones).

During the court session, the complainant, Thompson, identified the accused and recalled that Ramatu had asked her to allow Juliana to stay with her. However, the emotional testimony caused Thompson to experience health complications, prompting the prosecutor to request an adjournment.

In response to the bail application, the defense highlighted Juliana's age and school-going status, as well as Mabinty's situation as a lactating mother. Magistrate Sahr Kekura granted bail to Juliana but refused bail for the other two accused individuals.
