Freetown Residents Urged to Stay Safe Amidst Heavy Rainfall and Flood Risk

Residents of Freetown are being advised to take precautions as heavy rainfall batters the city, with rates surpassing 50 millimeters per hour. This significant downpour, as reported by the Freetown Weather Alert in Sierra Leone, brings with it a heightened risk of flooding.

Authorities have issued urgent safety warnings due to the severe weather conditions. Residents are specifically encouraged to avoid areas prone to disasters, such as poorly maintained drainage channels, waterways, hillsides, and coastal regions. Additionally, the public is advised to refrain from traveling to unfamiliar locations throughout the week to minimize risks.

This heavy rainfall follows two consecutive days of continuous downpours, which have already led to flooding and property damage in several parts of Freetown. The Freetown Weather Alert emphasizes the necessity of taking all possible precautions to ensure personal safety during this extreme weather event.
