Government Condemns Alleged Targeted Actions Against Fula Community
The Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, has strongly condemned recent reports of intimidation, harassment, and unwarranted arrests involving members of the Fula community by certain members of the security forces.
A press statement emphasized the government's deep concern over these actions, which occurred over the past 48 hours, stressing that they do not align with the values or directives of President Julius Maada Bio's administration. The government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting tolerance, inclusion, and the protection of citizens' rights.
The statement also recognized the Fula community as an essential and valued part of Sierra Leone’s society, whose contributions play a key role in the nation's socio-economic progress.
In response, the government has launched a thorough and impartial investigation into the incidents, with assurances that any individuals found guilty of illegal actions will be held accountable according to the law.
The Ministry of Information and Civic Education urged citizens to remain calm and assured the public of the government's resolve to protect the rights of all Sierra Leoneans. The government made it clear that discriminatory or unlawful actions against any community will not be tolerated under the current administration.
