
Government Vows Justice for 12-Year-Old Girl Gang-Raped to Death in Kailahun
The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of a 12-year-old girl, found between Baiima and Benduma in Kailahun District. According to reports, the young girl was brutally gang-raped and stabbed multiple times, with her lifeless body discovered in Gbaima Town, Eastern Sierra Leone.
In an official statement, the Ministry extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, assuring them of the government’s unwavering commitment to securing justice. They emphasized their dedication to protecting children's rights under both national and international laws.
The Ministry is working closely with child protection partners and the Sierra Leone Police to investigate this heinous crime. A comprehensive investigation is underway, and a postmortem examination has already been conducted. The Ministry urged the local community to assist the police by providing any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Executive Chairman of the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA), Mr. Brima Baluwa Koroma, reiterated the Ministry’s resolve to bring those responsible to justice. He highlighted the critical role of community support in the investigation and assured the public that the government would utilize all available resources to solve the case.
In a related development, Mr. Koroma announced plans for a nationwide workshop aimed at guiding industry dealers and addressing unacceptable behavior among pump attendants. This initiative is part of the PRA’s broader commitment to maintaining high standards within the petroleum sector.
