Kailahun District Descendants Union Donates NLe35,672 to Kailahun Government Hospital

The UK chapter of the Kailahun District Descendants Union, through the Kailahun District Descendant Association (KAIDDA), has donated NLe35,672 to the Kailahun Government Hospital as part of their efforts to develop the district.

Retired Assistance Inspector General of Police Morie Lengor, the chairman of KAIDDA Sierra Leone, stated that the donation aims to support the hospital's management in meeting their needs. He noted that although the UK chapter of KAIDDU had been dissolved, the contributions collected from members were allocated to assist hospitals in the Kailahun district.

Retired AIG Lengor further mentioned that three hospitals, including Kailahun Government Hospital, Nixon Memorial Hospital in Segbwema, and Jujuima Hospital, each received NLe35,672. He urged the hospital management to use the funds appropriately and provide an account of their expenditures.

Martin Mustapha Senesie, the secretary of Kailahun Government Hospital, received the cheque on behalf of the hospital's management in the presence of local authorities, civil society organizations, and media. He praised KAIDDA's initiative, highlighting the hospital's challenges, such as the lack of beds and drugs. Senesie assured everyone of their commitment to transparency and accountability regarding the donation.

Chief Augustine Amara Mendegla, representing the Paramount Chief of Luawa, pledged their commitment to monitoring the hospital's use of the funds.
