Labourer Remanded for Alleged Mobile Phone Theft in Freetown
A labourer, Ibrahim Koroma, has been remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Centre after being charged with theft.
Koroma appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1, facing a charge of larceny in a dwelling house under Section 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the police, on January 23, 2025, Koroma allegedly entered the home of Adama Bah in Kissy, Freetown, and stole a Tecno Spark 8 mobile phone, cash amounting to Le 95,000, and other belongings valued at Le 2,595.
When the charges were read in court, Koroma did not enter a plea. The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, requested a short adjournment to consult with witnesses. Since Koroma had no legal representation, no bail application was made on his behalf.
Magistrate Kekura denied bail and ordered Koroma to remain in custody. The case has been adjourned to February 11, 2025, for further proceedings.
