Man Arrested with Nine Bundles of Suspected Cannabis in Kono

A man identified as Mohamed Sesay from Titambaya Village in Nimikoro Chiefdom has been arrested by the police in Kono District for allegedly possessing nine bundles of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, locally known as "jamba."

 

The arrest occurred on Saturday, April 6, 2025, after concerned members of the public provided information about suspicious behavior in the area. Acting swiftly, Inspector Hassan L. Sesay, head of the Kumao Police Post, led a team to investigate the report.

 

During a thorough search, the suspected drugs were discovered in the bedroom of a woman named Debora Fomba, within the compound of Sheku Kamara.

 

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to tighten security through increased patrols and checkpoint inspections in the district.

 

Mohamed Sesay remains in custody while investigations continue to determine the source and intended destination of the substance. Authorities have commended the community for their role in assisting the operation and encouraged ongoing public collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking.
