Parliament Approves Eight Nominees for NRA and Consumer Protection Commission
The House of Parliament has approved eight nominees to serve as board members for Sierra Leone’s National Revenue Authority (NRA) and Consumer Protection Commission.
The approval took place during a parliamentary session, confirming the following nominees:
Mathew Younge as Deputy Chairman, Consumer Protection Commission
Mr. Andrew Pessima, Member, Consumer Protection Commission
Madam Memunatu Rogers, Member, NRA Board
Dr. John Arouna Karimu, Member, NRA Board
Mr. Mamoud Ruskin Kabbah, Member, Consumer Protection Commission
Madam Koloneh Sankoh, Member, Consumer Protection Commission
Mr. Francis Gbondo, Member, Consumer Protection Commission
Madam Susan Williams, Member, Consumer Protection Commission
Acting Speaker Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh congratulated the nominees, emphasizing the critical role they will play in supporting key national goals, especially the NRA’s task of enhancing revenue collection to further the President’s agenda.
Hon. Conteh also expressed the importance of the Consumer Protection Commission in safeguarding consumers’ rights and urged the nominees to fulfill this responsibility.
Opposition Leader Hon. Abdul Kargbo praised the Consumer Protection Commission’s role in protecting citizens’ welfare and encouraged the nominees to tackle issues like food safety proactively.
Finally, Acting Leader of Government Business Hon. Bashiru Silikie highlighted the parliamentary responsibilities of oversight and representation, encouraging the nominees to prioritize national interests over local affiliations.
