Inspector Mohamed A. Y. Kanneh of the Sierra Leone Police confirmed that an ongoing investigation into bomb manufacturing has led to the detention of 14 suspects. This announcement was made during a press conference at police headquarters in Freetown on Monday, 29th July 2024, where Kanneh represented the Director of Crimes at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Among the suspects, three are Lebanese nationals—Hussein Antar, Ibrahim Antar, and Jamal Antar. The remaining seven are Sierra Leoneans—Samuel Marrah, Ibrahim Basiru Kamara, Suliaman Bah, Abdul Aziz Kamara, Allieu Kamara, Ahmed Bangura, and Alhaji Kamara.

Kanneh disclosed that, following interviews, four of the suspects will be charged to court.

Additionally, Assistant Commissioner of Police Francis Brima Mende, Regional Commander of Freetown West, reported that the region remains calm despite heavy rains causing significant damage, including at the Murray Bah community where several people have been affected. He also mentioned that checkpoints are being closely monitored. Recently, a search in the Rokupa community resulted in the discovery of four magazines in a container, and the arrest of Amadu Jalloh, who was found with nine jackets and two military combats.
