Save the Children Reports Trespassing Incident, Reaffirms Commitment to High Standards

Save the Children has issued a strong condemnation following a trespassing incident at its Aberdeen office on July 9th, 2024.

The organization identified the trespasser as UK national Sam Walker, who is accused of illegally entering the premises, making accusations of malpractice, harassing staff, and sharing their images on social media.

Save the Children stated that Walker's actions disrupted their vital work, exploited vulnerable children, and raised significant concerns about the safety of both staff and the children they serve.

The organization emphasized its unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operation, with a focus on child safety and well-being.

“Save the Children is a registered organization in Sierra Leone, adhering to all national regulations and standards,” the statement read. “We have a robust grievance mechanism to address any concerns or complaints, both internally and externally.”

Save the Children’s registration with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) ensures oversight and guidance for their operations. Additionally, their affiliation with the Sierra Leone Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (SLANGO) reinforces their commitment to best practices within the humanitarian sector.

Operating in Sierra Leone since 1999, Save the Children focuses on children's rights and protection, education, and health.
