Sierra Leone Police Apprehend Suspected Human Traffickers En Route to Guinea

On June 27, 2024, the Sierra Leone Police arrested three individuals on charges of human trafficking at the Dambo Checkpoint in Koindu Division, Kailahun District, Eastern Sierra Leone. The suspects, Abdul Kamara from Ategbeh Town, Waterloo, Mustapha Samuel Conteh, and Alfred Sessy from Wusu Street, Makeni, were intercepted while transporting 17 individuals, including men, women, and children aged between 13 and 28 years old. They were reportedly traveling from Waterloo to the Republic of Niamey via Yenga in Guinea on five motorbikes.

 

Currently, the suspects and the victims are being detained at the Koindu Police Station. They are expected to be transferred to the Regional Headquarters in Kenema for further investigation.

 

The Sierra Leone Police have committed to keeping the public informed as the investigation progresses.
