Sierra Leonean FIFA-Badged Referees Depart For Senegal And Egypt

On May 18, 2024, Sierra Leonean FIFA-badged referees Umu Marrah and Precious Amara departed for Senegal. They have been selected by the West African Football Union (WAFU Zone A) to officiate in the U-20 Female tournament, which is scheduled to take place from May 20 to May 30, 2024. This prestigious selection highlights their exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.

In a parallel development, Rashid Conteh and Aminata Fullah have set off for Cairo, Egypt, to participate in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) New FIFA Referee course. The course will be held from May 20 to May 25, 2024. Instituted by CAF in 2014, this training program aims to provide new FIFA referees with comprehensive knowledge of the latest regulations and laws of the game.

The CAF New FIFA Referee course is meticulously designed to enhance the skills of both new FIFA Referees and Assistant Referees. The curriculum focuses on various aspects of refereeing, including physical conditioning, theoretical knowledge, and technical expertise. By participating in this course, Conteh and Fullah will gain valuable insights and advanced training, further equipping them to excel in their refereeing careers.

These developments underscore Sierra Leone's growing influence in the realm of international football officiating. The selection of Marrah and Amara for the WAFU U-20 Female tournament and the participation of Conteh and Fullah in the CAF course represent significant milestones for Sierra Leonean referees on the global stage.
