Tragic Incident in Freetown: Two Children Dead, Two Hospitalized After Suspected Food Poisoning
A devastating event occurred today at 10 Lardner Street, Off Fourah Bay Road in Freetown, where two young children have tragically passed away in what is believed to be a case of food poisoning.
Abdul Akin Bangura, 2 years old, and Olivia Conteh, 14 years old, were found unresponsive at their home.
Two other children from the same household, Sulaiman Bangura, 5, and Ramatu Bangura, 7, are currently in critical condition and are receiving urgent medical care at Cottage Hospital. Medical staff are working diligently to stabilize their condition, which remains serious.
Preliminary reports suggest that the children's mother prepared a meal of fried chicken and fish the night before. While it is not yet confirmed whether the children consumed the food, it is being investigated as a potential cause of the suspected poisoning.
Investigations are ongoing, with forensic examinations being conducted to determine the exact cause of death for Abdul and Olivia. Their bodies have been transported to Connaught Mortuary for further analysis.
Authorities are working to uncover the source of the food poisoning and assess responsibility. The local community is in shock, anxiously awaiting more information about this tragic situation.
