Two Fugitive Officers Killed in Alleged Coup Plot in Sierra Leone
On the anniversary of last year's failed coup in Sierra Leone, two fugitive military officers, Captain Aiah B.A. Senesie and Captain Thomas L. Konteh, were killed in a confrontation with the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces.
The two captains, who had fled the country following the thwarted coup attempt on November 26, 2023, allegedly returned with plans to orchestrate another takeover. Acting on intelligence, security forces intercepted them, leading to a gunfight in which both men were killed.
Captain Senesie and Captain Konteh were key figures in the previous coup attempt, which was successfully suppressed by state forces. After escaping the country, their activities remained under surveillance. Their return reportedly raised alarms within military and government circles, culminating in the fatal confrontation.
Further updates on the situation are expected.
