Violence rocks East Jerusalem and West Bank as Israel orders evacuation of Gaza Strip

Palestinian protesters and Israeli security troops in occupied East Jerusalem and several areas of the West Bank as Israeli forces order nearly half of the Gaza Strip's population to evacuate ahead of an expected ground offensive. Violence broke out between them.

 

Marches were called for in the West Bank through several major cities, but the entire region is in turmoil, making it difficult to confirm details of what would otherwise be considered a major incident. Met. At least 11 Palestinians were shot dead in the West Bank during the day, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, and the violence continued into the evening.

 

Former Hamas leader Khaled Mashal called for a "global day of outrage" in support of the Palestinians, calling on governments and people across the Middle East to protest.

 

 

"Tribes of Jordan, sons of Jordan, brothers and sisters of Jordan...this is a critical moment, the border is at hand. You know your responsibility," he said. Ta. Turkey's Anadolu news agency reported that thousands of people had gathered in Jordan's capital Amman, but that the spread had been halted after protests were banned near the West Bank border.

 

 

Violent clashes between Palestinians, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israeli settlers in the West Bank were reported early Friday afternoon near Hebron, Nablus, and Ramallah.

 

Jerusalem is referred as a flashpoint for violence on Friday, a Muslim holiday, but after six days of heavy airstrikes, the most important prayers of the week were held at flashpoint Al Aqsa Mosque in the small Palestinian enclave. It was expected that there would be a flood of believers. 2.3 million people live in Gaza.
