Bloccpay Builds Stablecoin Payroll Platform for African Cross-Border Workers
Bloccpay is developing a chain-agnostic payroll and invoicing platform designed to help African remote workers receive international earnings while maintaining formal income records.
Bloccpay is developing a stablecoin-powered payroll and invoicing platform aimed at African remote workers, contractors and international employers managing cross-border payments.

Built by Jennifer Echenim and co-founder Ajoke Asunmonu, the platform combines digital payment settlements with documentation intended to make earnings easier to record and verify. Its features include itemised digital pay slips for payroll cycles and official receipts for invoices.
Addressing payment and documentation gaps
The idea emerged from Echenim’s experience after relocating from Nigeria to the United Arab Emirates. She said accessing and documenting international earnings was difficult, requiring multiple payment channels and informal workarounds.
“I was doing this convoluted dance every month—moving money through friends, converting stablecoins, and navigating P2P channels just to access my salary,” Echenim said.
She also said traditional payroll infrastructure was designed for employers and employees operating within the same legal jurisdiction, leaving remote workers facing challenges involving banking rules, tax compliance and proof of income.
“Legacy payroll systems were built on the assumption that employers and employees operate within the same legal jurisdiction,” Echenim said. “Banking rules, tax compliance, and documentation frameworks were all designed around that premise. Remote work completely shattered those assumptions.”
Remote workers earning from international clients may need verifiable income records for visa applications, rental agreements and banking compliance. Some payment services provide earnings documentation but may involve slower processing or less competitive foreign-exchange rates, while raw cryptocurrency wallet histories may not be accepted by banks as proof of income.
Payroll options for employers and workers
Bloccpay allows employers to complete automated KYB and KYC checks, onboard full-time employees or independent contractors, schedule weekly or monthly payroll and fund payouts with fiat currency or cryptocurrency.
Companies can send payments to bank accounts or digital wallets. The platform’s chain-agnostic design is intended to allow workers to receive funds through their preferred blockchain network, although the specific networks supported were not identified.
Asunmonu said the service is designed for people with different levels of familiarity with cryptocurrency. “We cater seamlessly to both crypto-native users and non-crypto talent,” she said.
Bloccpay was conceived in 2022 and went through private beta testing in 2023. The platform is positioned alongside services including Request Finance, Bitwage and Rise Works, while emphasising African banking corridors and its chain-agnostic architecture.
Fees and planned expansion
The platform charges a monthly payroll-processing fee of $15 per contractor. It also applies a 1% invoicing fee and a 1% withdrawal fee when users move funds out of the Bloccpay ecosystem.
Bloccpay plans to increase its processing volumes and improve cross-border off-ramp liquidity across emerging markets. The company also intends to use verified income histories as a foundation for embedded services such as health insurance, gym memberships, travel booking and utility payments.
Echenim described the longer-term goal as a single financial hub for workers rather than a collection of separate payment applications. No independently verified figures were provided for the platform’s users, transaction volumes, revenue or funding, and the jurisdictions in which it may be licensed or regulated were not specified.
