50 Moroccan Investors to Explore Investment Opportunities in Sierra Leone
In a historic move for Sierra Leone, a delegation of 50 high-level investors and officials from Morocco is set to visit Freetown from December 4–6, 2024. This initiative aims to strengthen economic ties and foster investment opportunities between Sierra Leone and Morocco.
The visit, organized under the guidance of President Julius Maada Bio, will bring Moroccan government officials, business leaders, and industry representatives together with local ministries, departments, and agencies to explore potential investments across various sectors in Sierra Leone.
The announcement followed Sierra Leone’s participation in the Economic Promotion Week hosted by Morocco. During this event, a 13-member delegation from Sierra Leone, led by Tamba E. Juana, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Moroccan counterparts to advance trade, investment, and diplomatic collaboration.
Juana described the engagement as a “new chapter” in relations between the two nations, emphasizing the focus on partnerships that support knowledge transfer and capacity building within Sierra Leone.
The Moroccan delegation’s visit to Sierra Leone will be organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises as part of the African Forum for Investment. The event will feature discussions between Sierra Leonean ministries and private sector representatives, targeting investments in mining, agriculture, energy, tourism, infrastructure, and security.
This December delegation follows an earlier visit organized by the Sierra Leonean Embassy in Rabat, where Moroccan investors met with key stakeholders in Freetown to explore collaborative opportunities. Moroccan investors have shown strong interest in supporting high-impact projects in Sierra Leone.
In an effort to build on these initial connections, Morocco’s Agency for International Cooperation has announced an upcoming African Investment Forum and Executive Meeting in Rabat, aiming to deepen Morocco’s collaboration with other African countries. This engagement aligns with President Bio’s commitment to attracting international investment and driving development across key sectors in Sierra Leone.
