African Football League: New elite tournament sponsored by CAF

Each country could select only one representative based on tournament ranking points.

 

Opening

 

The African Football League opened on Friday 20th October at a packed Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania's commercial capital Dar es Salaam. The opening match pitted Simba Sports Club against Egyptian giants Al Ahly. The match was heated and ended in a 2-2 draw. Many soccer stars witnessed this historic event, especially FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

 

 

Prize Total

 

This FIFA-sponsored tournament has an impressive prize pool. By participating, all teams are guaranteed $1 million, semifinalists $1.7 million, silver medalists $3 million, and winners $4 million.
