Albania Rescues 19-Year-Old from Sierra Leone with Special Forces Operation
A 19-year-old Albanian has been safely repatriated from Sierra Leone after being in a dangerous situation.
According to police reports, the young man's mother contacted authorities for assistance, claiming that her son had been kidnapped in Freetown but later managed to escape and seek help at a local police station. Given his emotional distress, officials determined that a specialized operation was necessary for his return.
In response, Albanian authorities dispatched officers from Interpol Tirana and the RENEA Special Department to Sierra Leone. Working in close coordination with Interpol Freetown, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and the Albanian Embassy in London, they arranged the necessary procedures for his safe return.
The officers traveled to Sierra Leone, met with local authorities, and successfully facilitated the young man’s journey back to Albania without complications.
Upon his arrival, the 19-year-old’s mother expressed gratitude to law enforcement and diplomatic officials for their swift intervention. The State Police also acknowledged the cooperation and support of their international counterparts in ensuring the success of the operation.
