APC Warns Alfred Peter Conteh: “No Faction Called ITGC”
The opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has threatened legal action against Alfred Peter Conteh, accusing him of misrepresenting the party’s leadership by continuing to claim the chairmanship of the Interim Transitional Governance Committee (ITGC).
APC National Publicity Secretary Sidi Yayah Tunis stressed that the ITGC no longer exists, explaining that it was a temporary structure created by the High Court to manage the party’s affairs until internal elections were completed. That mandate, he said, ended in 2023 after the APC successfully held its lower-level elections and National Delegates Conference under the supervision of the Interim Independent Elections Management Committee (IIEMC).
Tunis noted that the ITGC was originally formed after the courts nullified the APC executive elected in 2017, but following the 2023 delegates’ conference, a new leadership was lawfully chosen, registered with the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), and recognized by the courts.
“For Alfred Peter Conteh to still parade himself as ITGC chairman when that mandate has long ended is a dishonest misrepresentation,” Tunis declared. “There is no faction in the APC called ITGC. The party has a legitimate executive in place.”
He warned that if Conteh continues to present himself under that title, the APC will be left with no option but to take legal action.
