The Sierra Leone Police's Media Unit reported a significant development in the fight against illicit substances, particularly those associated with the production of Kush. On December 18, 2023, a collaborative effort involving the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU), the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Forces Intelligence and Security Unit (FISU) executed a targeted operation at 19 Mudge Farm, Off Wilkinson Road, Freetown.

During the operation, law enforcement discovered Thirty-three (33) plastic containers of Acetone, Ten (10) plastic containers of Methanol, and Twenty-seven (27) plastic parcels of Marshmallow, suspected to be substances used in the manufacturing of Kush. Additionally, a quantity of processed Kush, along with Ninety-seven million Leones (Le 97,000,000) and Three hundred British Pounds (£300), believed to be proceeds from the sale of these substances, were seized. Assorted business and financial documents were also found at the location.

The arrested suspects, Anan Alamy and Desmond Frazer, claimed ownership of the seized items. Two other individuals, Osman Koroma and Maligie Suma, found at the premises during the operation, were also taken into custody for questioning.

A request has been forwarded to a Toxicologist and Forensic Analyst for the examination and analysis of the seized substances, with the samples yet to be collected for the process. The four suspects are currently assisting in the ongoing investigation.

This operation reflects the continued commitment of law enforcement agencies in Sierra Leone to combatting the illegal production and distribution of substances such as Kush. The collaboration between various units demonstrates a concerted effort to address the complexities associated with transnational organized crime and drug-related offenses in the region.
