Bo Rangers and East End Lions to Receive $50,000 Each from CAF"
Bo Rangers and East End Lions will each receive $50,000 for their participation in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup. This marks the first time the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has provided financial support at this stage of the competition. Previously, clubs only received prize money after reaching the group stages.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe's commitment to enhancing African club football includes this new financial support for teams in the preliminary rounds. The first leg of the opening round will take place between August 16-18, followed by the return legs on August 23-25, 2024.
CAF has significantly increased prize money across its competitions in recent years. The winners of the CAF Champions League now receive $4 million, up from $2.5 million in 2022. Similarly, the CAF Confederation Cup champions' prize has risen from $1.2 million to $2 million.
In addition to these increases, last year saw the introduction of the African Football League, which provided clubs with a total prize pool of $8 million.
