Deputy Information and Civic Education Minister Responds to APC Press Release

In a recent development, Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, Bockarie Aziz Bawoh, has addressed allegations made by the All People’s Congress (APC) concerning President Julius Maada Bio’s speech during the coronation of twelve Paramount Chiefs in Bo District. Bawoh’s response was part of the Ministry’s weekly press conference, a platform used to keep the public informed and to address matters of public interest.

During the press conference, Bawoh firmly refuted the APC's claims, asserting that they misrepresented President Bio’s statements. According to Bawoh, President Bio emphasized his legitimate hold on power through democratic elections and reiterated his commitment to stepping down at the end of his term in 2028. The Deputy Minister clarified that President Bio’s remarks were directed at maintaining peace, warning that any violent attempts to destabilize the nation would be met with equivalent force.

The clarification comes amidst heightened political tensions and serves as a reminder of the government's stance on preserving peace and democratic processes in Sierra Leone.
