
Deputy Minister Encourages New Nursing Students, Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Education
Deputy Minister of Higher and Technical Education, Sarjoh Aziz Kamara, has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to advancing education and healthcare equity during an address to newly enrolled students at the Nixon School of Nursing in Segbwema.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, Kamara praised the leadership of Eastern Technical University for expanding access to quality education in Njaluahun, Nja, and Kailahun District. He urged faculty members to uphold the institution’s reputation for excellence, emphasizing the vital role of nursing students in achieving universal healthcare coverage.
Kamara highlighted key government initiatives, including the Student Loan Scheme and the Grant-in-Aid program, which supports women pursuing careers in science and healthcare. He also announced progress on the construction of Bunumbu College, which will further expand higher education opportunities in the region.
The minister emphasized recent policy advancements, such as the Tertiary Education Act and the National Technical Vocational Education Act, designed to address systemic challenges and promote sustainable development through education.
Closing his speech, Kamara described education as a unifying force that transcends political differences, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring education remains a right for all SierraLeoneans.
