ECSL Wellington Store Larceny Case Advances to High Court

The ECSL Wellington store larceny case is advancing to the High Court, following a decision by Magistrate Sahr Kekura. Mohamed Turay, Ishmael Sesay, Charles F. Yonjai, and Sahr Kamanda face charges of conspiracy, store breaking, larceny, and receiving stolen goods under section 33(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

 

On September 12, 2023, the accused allegedly conspired with unknown individuals to break into the ECSL Wellington branch in Freetown, stealing 142 tablets worth over four million Kenyan Shillings. They are also accused of receiving eleven ECSL tablets valued at three hundred eighteen thousand Kenyan Shillings.

 

Magistrate Kekura, citing sufficient evidence from the prosecution led by Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S. Mansaray, committed the case to the High Court. He emphasized the serious nature of the charges and the strong evidence presented.

 

The accused have been granted bail as the case proceeds to trial at the High Court, highlighting the judiciary's commitment to addressing significant cases of conspiracy and larceny.
