Edmond Abu Elected President of Sierra Leone Rugby Union
On August 10, 2024, renowned civil society activist Edmond Abu was elected as the new President of the Sierra Leone Rugby Union. During today's elective congress, the delegates of the Rugby Union unanimously chose Abu to lead the organization. Known for his role as a national team manager and CEO of Native Bulls Rugby Club, Abu campaigned on a platform of renewal and a fresh vision for rugby in Sierra Leone. His election was overseen by the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority, and the National Olympic Committee.
Edmond Abu succeeds Jeremiah Moshopeh Pratt, the outgoing president, who dissolved his executive team to allow the new leadership to take over. The election, held at the Olympic House on College Road, Godrich, marks a significant shift for the Rugby Union, with promises of new directions and improvements under Abu's leadership.
