FIFA Workshop Enhances Coaching Standards in Sierra Leone

Dominique Niyonzima, FIFA's Regional Technical Consultant, led a workshop designed to improve coaching standards in Sierra Leone.

The session brought together Premier League and National Team coaches, including notable figures such as Mohamed Kallon, Amidu Karim, John Edward Keister, and Mohamed Lamin Kamara.

During the event, Niyonzima emphasized the importance of humility, hard work, patience, and continuous skill development in fostering a culture of football excellence. He praised the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) for its strong infrastructure, suggesting the association is well-positioned to apply for FIFA’s Talent Coach program. If approved, this program would assign an expert coach to Sierra Leone for two years, significantly advancing local football development.

Niyonzima also highlighted the potential of FIFA’s Football for Schools initiative, urging collaboration between the SLFA and the Ministries of Sport and Education. This partnership aims to integrate football into schools, nurturing grassroots talent and promoting the sport from an early age.

The workshop marks a key milestone in Sierra Leone's efforts to achieve international standards, empowering coaches to shape future generations of football talent.
