Fiona Ngima Becomes First Female President of Sierra Leone Students' Union

In a landmark ceremony held on January 10, 2024, Fiona Ngima was officially sworn in as the President of the National Union of Sierra Leone Students (NUSS), becoming the first woman to hold this position in the union’s history.

 

The event, hosted at the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education, was attended by students, dignitaries, and senior ministry officials. Ngima’s inauguration marks a significant milestone in advancing gender inclusivity and progressive student leadership.

 

In her speech, Ngima expressed gratitude to the student body for their confidence in her vision. She described her election as a triumph for equality and outlined her plans to improve student welfare, enhance access to technology, and create better learning environments. She called for unity and collaboration among students to strengthen the union and achieve shared goals.

 

Ministry representatives congratulated Ngima on her historic leadership and reaffirmed their support for student development and advocacy. They praised the union’s role in representing student interests and pledged to work closely with NUSS to advance educational reforms.
