Former Auditor General Lara Taylor-Pearce Denies Misconduct Allegations, Accuses Government of Political Attack
Former Auditor General Lara Taylor-Pearce has finally spoken out after three years of silence following her suspension in November 2021. She vehemently denied all allegations of misconduct and accused the government of orchestrating a politically motivated attack against her.
In her statement, Taylor-Pearce, an esteemed accountant with over 30 years of experience, emphasized her commitment to international auditing standards and questioned the legality of the tribunal investigating her. She criticized the lack of evidence presented during the public hearings and defended the professionalism of the Audit Service Sierra Leone (ASSL), stressing that all audits conducted under her leadership adhered to international standards.
Taylor-Pearce expressed her frustration over not receiving the tribunal report and the delay in her case reaching the Supreme Court. She challenged the Attorney General to present any evidence of wrongdoing to her professional bodies and concluded by thanking her supporters and legal team.
