Freetown Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr Advocates for Responsible Waste Management
In a recent statement, Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr of Freetown has strongly urged residents to refrain from utilizing 'Clean Salone' waste collectors for disposal. Emphasizing the presence of officially designated Waste Service Providers across the city, the Mayor highlighted their responsibility for the comprehensive collection of all waste materials.
"To ensure Freetown's cleanliness, please engage exclusively with FCC-approved waste service providers! Dial 8244 from any network to obtain contact details of approved waste service providers in your vicinity. Avoid using ‘Clean Salone’ collectors who unlawfully dump garbage along streets, gutters, and waterways," declared Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr.
The Mayor's firm stance against unauthorized waste disposal aims to improve sanitation and environmental sustainability within the city, addressing the negative impact of illegal dumping by "Clean Salone" collectors on Freetown's streets and water systems.
Additionally, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr issued a stern warning to 'Clean Salone' collectors, instructing them to cease dumping garbage in public spaces. She emphasized that individuals caught violating these regulations would face severe legal consequences.
To facilitate compliance with the new waste management directives, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr introduced a dedicated helpline (8244), accessible from any network. This helpline serves as a resource for citizens to easily obtain contact information for FCC-approved waste service providers operating in their respective areas.
These proactive measures underscore the city's commitment to fostering a clean and healthy environment. By encouraging residents to collaborate with approved waste service providers, the initiative aims to mitigate the adverse effects of illegal waste disposal, creating a safer and more sustainable Freetown.
