Gaza Launches New Polio Vaccination Campaign for Children A large-scale polio vaccination
The campaign follows a similar effort last year that reached hundreds of thousands of children. Recent wastewater samples in Gaza have detected the presence of the poliovirus, signaling ongoing circulation and raising concerns about potential outbreaks.
Led by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the campaign is supported by international health organizations and humanitarian agencies. More than 1,700 health workers are involved, administering vaccines through health centers and mobile medical units.
Ten health centers across Gaza, including locations in Rafah, Khan Younis, the Middle Area, and Gaza City, are participating in the effort. Additionally, around 60 mobile medical teams are working to reach children in different areas.
The vaccination drive is scheduled to run until February 26.
