Germany, UK, and EU Unite in Strong Condemnation of Assault on Sierra Leone Military Barracks

The governments of Germany, the United Kingdom, and the European Union (EU) delegation in Sierra Leone have collectively denounced the attempted seizure of a military barracks in Freetown. 

 

The UK's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) strongly condemned the violence, urging British nationals to adhere to the nationwide curfew and assuring 24/7 consular support. This unified international condemnation underscores the commitment to Sierra Leone's democracy and stability.

 

The German Embassy in Sierra Leone labeled the attack on Wilberforce Barracks as unjustifiable, calling for cooperation with the government to maintain constitutional order. Germany reiterated its dedication to collaborating with Sierra Leoneans for a peaceful, democratic, and prosperous nation governed by the rule of law.

 

The EU delegation in Sierra Leone expressed concern about the situation, advocating for the restoration of constitutional order. Emphasizing adherence to the ongoing curfew, the EU affirmed its unwavering support for those working towards a peaceful and democratic Sierra Leone.

 

The three governments emphasized their ongoing collaboration with Sierra Leoneans to achieve a peaceful and prosperous future, monitoring the situation closely and reinforcing their commitment to democratic values.
