Heavy Rainstorm in Waterloo Results in Three Deaths and Major Property Damage

A heavy downpour earlier today in Tombo Park, Waterloo, led to the tragic drowning of three individuals and caused extensive property damage worth millions of leones.

The usually bustling market is now submerged, with many shops flooded and business activities halted. Mabinty Sesay, a petty trader, shared her distress: “We buy our markets in the evening so that we can sell them in the morning, but when I came today, I found all my foodstuffs washed away.”

The flooding has turned the area into a river, making navigation nearly impossible and sweeping away foodstuffs and market stalls. Local authorities are assessing the damage and providing assistance to those affected, emphasizing the urgent need for improved infrastructure and flood management systems.
