Kamboi Eagles and Star Sport Academy Secure Promotion to Sierra Leone Premier League
Kamboi Eagles and Star Sport Academy have earned their places in the upcoming season of the Sierra Leone Premier League after a fiercely contested Division One Playoff organized by the Sierra Leone Football Association.
Kamboi Eagles, who were relegated last year, made a triumphant return to the top tier by defeating Masoya FC 3-1, with goals from Frank Alison, Tejan Loco Jalloh, and Alusine Sharka. The team’s comeback is celebrated across Sierra Leone, particularly in Kenema and the Eastern Region, where the Eagles have a storied history.
Meanwhile, Star Sport Academy clinched their spot in the Premier League with a narrow 1-0 victory over Abacha City. This win solidified their position in the top league for the next season.
Masoya FC and Abacha City will face off on August 31, 2024, to determine the final team to be promoted to the Premier League. The winner will join Kamboi Eagles and Star Sport Academy as the newly promoted teams for the upcoming season.
Kamboi Eagles and Star Sport Academy are also set to compete in the grand finale of the Division One playoffs.
Thomas Daddy Brima, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, congratulated both teams on their achievement, praising their dedication and perseverance. He welcomed them to Sierra Leone’s elite league and expressed anticipation for the outcome of the match between Abacha City and Masoya FC, which will determine the final team to join the Premier League.
