Mason Sentenced to 18 Months for Wounding Incident

On Monday, July 15, 2024, Magistrate Sahr Kekura sentenced Alusine Jalloh, a 32-year-old mason, to 18 months in prison for wounding, following his guilty plea.

The incident took place on June 29, 2024, at Vincent Drive, Malama, Lumley, Freetown. Jalloh was found guilty of maliciously wounding Solomon Koroma during a fight. Koroma had intervened in a brawl involving Jalloh and three others when he was injured.

Jalloh admitted to the charges, explaining that Koroma was accidentally harmed during the altercation. He pleaded for leniency, citing his remorse and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Despite Jalloh's plea, Magistrate Kekura emphasized the need for accountability and deterrence in violent cases. Jalloh was sentenced to 18 months in prison but was given the alternative of paying a fine of two thousand Leones to the State.

The prosecution, led by Inspector Sellu TAP, provided evidence supporting the charges, which contributed to the conviction.
