The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) has officially transferred ownership of Sierra Leone’s Medium Term National Development Plan to the local authorities of Port Loko District. At a gathering held on October 29, the Deputy Minister presented items symbolizing this handover, including brochures and materials, to District and City Council leaders and Paramount Chiefs, entrusting them with the plan's implementation.

The development plan, launched in January, is grounded in five key goals: agricultural progress, human capital development, job creation, technological and infrastructure advancements, and public sector transformation.

During the event, the Deputy Minister highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration in implementing the plan. He urged local leaders to focus on progress, avoiding any political divides. Emphasizing teamwork, he stated that the plan positions Port Loko at the center of monitoring and evaluating national development efforts.

Council Chairman Sheku Saccoh echoed the plan's significance and encouraged nonpartisan cooperation in its execution. The event drew a wide range of participants, including Paramount Chiefs, parliament members, development heads, media, civil society representatives, and international organizations, all expressing support for the development plan.
