MP Advocates for Improved Road Infrastructure in Tonkolili District
Hon. Daniel Fornah, a Member of Parliament representing Tonkolili District, has intensified his advocacy for better road infrastructure, especially in underserved areas like the Gbonkolenken Chiefdom. His efforts aim to address the economic and social isolation caused by poor road conditions.
Tonkolili, one of Sierra Leone’s largest districts, faces significant challenges with its rural road networks. Key routes, including those connecting Magburaka to Samaya Bendugu, Matotaka to Yele, and Yele to Bo, are in dire need of maintenance. These roads, critical for transporting goods and accessing essential services, often become impassable during the rainy season due to erosion and poor drainage.
Hon. Fornah emphasized that the road linking Magburaka to Samaya Bendugu serves as a lifeline for residents, facilitating the movement of agricultural products and local goods. However, its deteriorating condition has resulted in frequent delays and accidents, severely affecting the daily lives of communities.
The Matotaka-Yele-Bo road also plays a vital role, connecting several towns and villages. Its poor state disrupts trade, hampers access to healthcare and education, and isolates vulnerable populations. Hon. Fornah has consistently raised these concerns in Parliament, urging the government to allocate funds for the rehabilitation of these critical roads.
He highlighted the importance of a reliable road network in reducing poverty, boosting local economies, and improving living standards. His calls for action have resonated with both constituents and the broader public, as rural infrastructure remains a pressing issue across Sierra Leone.
Hon. Fornah remains committed to advocating for development in Tonkolili District, pushing for sustainable solutions to improve road access and enhance the quality of life for residents.
