NaCSA Commissioner and Chinese Ambassador Visit Bo Government Secondary School: A Step Towards Social Development

In a significant move towards community-driven social development initiatives in Sierra Leone, the Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, along with the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Wang Qing, paid a visit to the Bo Government Secondary School in Bo.

 

The purpose of this visit was rooted in NaCSA's commitment to addressing social challenges in Sierra Leone through grassroots engagement and collaboration with various stakeholders. By visiting educational institutions like Bo Government Secondary School, NaCSA aims to understand the needs of local communities and contribute to their development in a meaningful and sustainable manner.

 

Upon their arrival, the distinguished visitors were warmly welcomed by the Principal of Bo School, Edward Mustapha Kpaka, who highlighted the school's rich history and its role in nurturing future leaders of Sierra Leone. The Vice Principal provided a brief overview of the school's background, emphasizing its significance in the educational landscape of the country. Paramount Chief Prince Lappia Boima the Fourth, representing the Board of Directors and the People of Bo Kakua Chiefdom, also extended his welcome and support to the delegation.

 

Commissioner Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, in his address, conveyed President Julius Maada Bio's felicitations to the school community and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit such a renowned institution. He acknowledged the pivotal role that Bo School has played in shaping the nation's leadership, citing President Bio as a notable alumni.

 

The highlight of the event came with the arrival of His Excellency Wang Qing, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, who delivered the keynote address. Ambassador Qing commended Bo School for its esteemed reputation and acknowledged its contribution to producing a significant portion of Sierra Leonean leaders. He seized the occasion to reaffirm China's commitment to supporting President Bio's human capital development agenda.

 

During the visit, the Chinese Ambassador made generous donations to the school, including 20 quotas of Chinese Ambassadorial Scholarships for the year 2024. These scholarships will enable the Principal, staff, and selected students to travel to China for educational purposes. Additionally, the Ambassador presented a set of computers and jerseys, along with five footballs for the school team, as part of China's contribution to enhancing educational resources and extracurricular activities at Bo School.

 

Following a tour of the school compound, Ambassador Qing expressed interest in further contributing to the infrastructural development of the school. He also expressed a keen interest in exploring opportunities to introduce Chinese language learning programs at Bo School, reflecting China's commitment to fostering cultural exchange and cooperation with Sierra Leone.

 

The visit of NaCSA Commissioner Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina and Chinese Ambassador Wang Qing to Bo Government Secondary School signifies a step forward in the promotion of social development and educational enhancement in Sierra Leone.
