Nation in Mourning as Four Officers Die in Tragic Crash Involving Presidential Convoy

 

A wave of grief has swept across the country following a devastating road accident involving a vehicle attached to the presidential convoy on the Freetown–Moyamba highway, which claimed the lives of four security officers.

The tragic incident occurred during an official movement, as a vehicle linked to the convoy was travelling from Freetown to Moyamba. Four officers from the Operational Support Division (OSD), who were on active duty at the time, lost their lives in the crash.

The fallen officers have been named as Spanner of the 22 Squad, Foday Korama and Mustapha Kamara of the 15 Squad, and Sergeant Alie of the 12 Squad. Colleagues and loved ones describe them as committed professionals who paid the ultimate price while serving their country.

The officer in charge of the OSD vehicle survived the accident and is reported to be safe, currently receiving medical care and administrative support. Details surrounding the cause of the crash have not yet been made public, as investigations continue.

News of the incident has sparked deep sorrow nationwide, especially within the security community. Many citizens have taken to social platforms to express shock, share condolences, and honour the memory of the officers who died in the line of duty.
