New Officials Take Oath of Office in Sierra Leone
His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio has officially sworn in several newly appointed officials, including Mr. Morie Lengor Esq. as Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel K. Amara as Chairman of the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), Mr. Ibrahim Jalloh as North East Resident Minister, and Mr. John Abu as South Region Resident Minister. The ceremony at State House followed unanimous parliamentary approval.
During the event, John Sumaila, Secretary to the Cabinet, affirmed that the appointments adhered to constitutional requirements, specifically Section 57 of the Sierra Leone Constitution of 1991. Following parliamentary endorsement, the appointees were formally introduced to the President to complete the oath-taking process.
In a collective speech, Mr. Morie Lengor, speaking on behalf of all appointees, expressed gratitude to President Bio for entrusting them with significant responsibilities. He acknowledged the weight of public expectations and pledged their commitment to delivering on the President's vision, emphasizing their resolve to overcome challenges with diligence and dedication.
President Bio congratulated the appointees and stressed the urgency of their duties, urging them to tackle pressing security and development issues. He emphasized the need for hard work, adding, “No one will transform Sierra Leone for us; the responsibility is ours.”
The new officials vowed to uphold their duties with integrity, promising to address the aspirations of the nation effectively.
