Over 200,000 Women and Children to Benefit from Save the Children’s New Health Project
In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Save the Children has officially launched the nationwide *Strengthening Health Systems* project. Focused on delivering essential maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition services, the project will be implemented in the Pujehun and Port Loko districts.
Tom Sesay, Director of Reproductive and Child Health at the Ministry of Health, highlighted the importance of the initiative, which aligns with national goals to improve health outcomes for women and children. He also emphasized the capacity-building aspect of the project, which will empower healthcare workers and local NGOs to expand similar interventions across the country.
Funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the project will strengthen local health systems over the coming year, with potential for further extension. A steering committee has been formed to oversee the project’s implementation, ensuring it has a meaningful and lasting impact on maternal and child health in Sierra Leone.
The launch event signified a shared commitment to improving health services for mothers and children, with the hope of making a significant difference in the communities of Pujehun and Port Loko.
