Over 2,450 Stranded Sierra Leoneans Return Home Through Reintegration Program
More than 2,450 Sierra Leoneans who were stranded abroad have returned home through a reintegration initiative supported by the European Union, the International Organization for Migration, and the Sierra Leonean government.
The program, part of a broader effort to assist vulnerable migrants in Sub-Saharan Africa, aims to provide safe return and reintegration support. A recent steering committee meeting on migrant protection focused on improving reintegration strategies to ensure returning migrants receive the necessary assistance.
The returnees, many of whom faced hardships while abroad, are now benefiting from financial aid, job training, and housing support to help them rebuild their lives.
Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs commended the collaborative effort, highlighting the program's importance in fostering national stability and economic development.
