Police Step In to Stop Clash Between Prince of Wales and Albert Academy Students

Police in Freetown have stepped in to prevent a potential clash between students of Prince of Wales Secondary School and Albert Academy after social media posts suggested plans for violence.

A viral video claiming that groups of students were preparing for confrontations prompted urgent action by the Sierra Leone Police. Regional Commander Sylvester M.N. Koroma, together with senior officers, visited both schools to calm tensions and engage directly with the students.

During the visit, Commander Koroma warned that anyone involved in violence, whether inside or outside school grounds, would face police investigation and possible prosecution. He urged students to resist peer pressure, report threats, and focus on their education.

To ensure calm, police have increased their presence around the schools and called for stronger partnerships between law enforcement and school authorities. Discussions also highlighted the need to revive anti-violence clubs as a long-term way to curb interschool rivalries.

The police strongly condemned the possession of dangerous items like firearms or illegal substances on school premises, warning that offenders would face serious consequences.

Authorities say the intervention demonstrates their commitment to keeping schools safe, protecting young people, and reducing violence in communities.
