
President Julius Maada Bio Honored in Liberia for Military Leadership and Regional Statesmanship
Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, has been awarded the “Distinguished Service Order” by Liberian President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. in recognition of his military leadership and contributions to regional stability. The award was presented during Liberia’s 68th Armed Forces Day celebration at the Barclay Training Centre in Monrovia.
President Boakai praised Bio’s dedication to peace and security, highlighting his impact on the region. He also noted that Bio is the first sitting president to attend Liberia’s Armed Forces Day as a guest and keynote speaker.
In his address, President Bio emphasized the importance of a disciplined and professional military in maintaining sustainable peace and democratic governance. He urged the Liberian Armed Forces to uphold democratic values, respect human rights, and collaborate with civil institutions to strengthen the country’s stability.
“The people of Liberia trust you, and history will remember your commitment to peace, justice, and democracy,” Bio stated, reaffirming his support for Liberia and the broader African region.
