Segbwema Light Up

Segbwema Light Up

Segwema, the headquarter town of Jaluahun Chiefdom in the east region of Sierra Leone, Kailahun District, was lit up on Boxing Day. This area has since been without electricity for over 4 decades.

Through a pilot project called One Man, One Pole, some portions of the forested region have begun enjoying electricity, a development that excited many residents in the area.

Sierra Leone's Deputy Minister of Technical and Higher Education, Hon. Sarjoh Aziz-Kamara who pioneered the project said cooperation of all stakeholders meant that the project was a success. However, more financial support is needed to light up more areas in the Chiefdom.

After a short procession from the Nixon Memorial Methodist Hospital to Center one at Taima, the Paramount Chief, PC Coker Jajua, thanked His Excellency, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for appointing a son of the Njaluahun soil to serve in his administration.

"Thank you for all your support," Kamara stated, calling "let's don't relent, but embrace ourselves as one people to develop Segbwema."
