On December 20, 2024, Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Mohamed Hassan Kaisamba, officially presented his Letters of Credence to Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, at the Jubilee House.

During the ceremony, Kaisamba extended warm regards from Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio and acknowledged Ghana’s successful election process as a testament to the country’s patriotism.

He commended Ghana’s Foreign Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, on her historic achievement as the first African woman to serve as the 7th Secretary-General of the Commonwealth. Kaisamba also expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for Ghana’s support during Sierra Leone’s bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for 2024–2025.

Highlighting the shared goals of both nations, Kaisamba emphasized their collaboration within organizations such as the African Union, the United Nations, ECOWAS, and the African, Caribbean, and Pacific Group of States. He advocated for the revival of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission to explore further opportunities for mutual growth.

In his remarks, President Akufo-Addo praised the strong historical ties between Ghana and Sierra Leone. He particularly noted the role of Fourah Bay College in shaping Ghanaian education and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leone’s diplomatic initiatives.
