Sierra Leone Army Welcomes First Female Cadet Officer After Training in India

The Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has reached a significant milestone by commissioning Second Lieutenant Wokie Yokie as its first female cadet officer to complete training at the Indian Cadet Academy.

Second Lieutenant Yokie completed an intensive one-year training program on September 7, 2024. The course was designed to challenge both her physical and mental capabilities, testing her perseverance and leadership.

Before joining the RSLAF, Yokie graduated from Njala University with a degree in Business Information and Technology. She enlisted in May 2023 and trained at the Armed Forces Training Centre in Benguema Barracks.

Her outstanding performance led to her selection for the Short-Service Commissioning Course in India. The program, divided into two phases, focused on military tactics, leadership, physical fitness, and operational command, preparing her for leadership roles within the armed forces.

Second Lieutenant Yokie's success marks a historic achievement for the RSLAF, paving the way for future female officers in the military.
