Sierra Leone Deputy Trade Minister and Delegation Foster Investment Opportunities in China"
Madam Fatmata Wurie, Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, led a delegation from the Ministry of Trade and Industry to engage potential investors during her visit to China for the sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) held in Shanghai from November 5th to November 10th, 2023.
The CIIE, a significant trade fair hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, serves as a major platform for international trade.
In a notable meeting with the Bairong World Trade Centre, the world's largest investment group located in Zhengzhou City, Northern China, Madam Wurie presented Sierra Leone’s investment potential, focusing on 10 thematic areas aligned with President Julius Maada Bio’s "Big Five" Manifesto.
Following a fruitful discussion, the Bairong World Trade Centre expressed eagerness to invest in Sierra Leone by the end of 2023. This trade and investment agreement is expected to create job opportunities and boost the country's economy through export promotion.
The CIIE, initiated in 2018 and held annually since, plays a pivotal role in promoting trade between China and other countries, showcasing its continued importance in facilitating international trade partnerships.
