Sierra Leone is on the brink of a historic moment in football as the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) gears up to launch the National Youth Championship. Beginning on December 9, 2023, at the Kono Mini Stadium in Koidu Town, this championship signifies a pivotal step in nurturing young football talent in the country.

 

Tailored for the U12 and U14 age groups, the event aims to showcase the emerging potential of Sierra Leone's youth in football. Alimamy K Conteh, the SLFA's Youth Football Coordinator, expressed enthusiasm, highlighting that this initiative not only provides a platform for skill display but also ignites a deeper passion for the sport among the nation's youth.

 

Teams from all four regions of Sierra Leone—North, South, East, and West—will converge to compete in this historic event. Mohamed Benson Bawoh, the SLFA’s Ag. General Secretary, voiced confidence that the championship will leave a lasting impact on Sierra Leonean football, emphasizing the association's commitment to nurturing the sport's growth at the grassroots level.
